Do you ever stop and wonder how other people live their lives?
Wish for a moment you can be a spider on the wall to other peoples normal?
I find myself asking this question for as long as I can remember.
What are their traditions?
How do they spend their evenings?
What do their meals consist of?
What do their sleeping quarters look like?
Do they have anything interesting on their bedside table?
Sometimes I get bored with MY “routine”,
that I wonder what others are doing.
How is it to experience a true white Christmas?
Live on a farm?
Call NYC home?
Do these family’s have their share of flaws too?
Is the grass truly greener on the other side?
Sometimes on our evening strolls,
I will peak inside brightly lit windows to see how others are living.
What could their story be?
Are they happier than me?
What could I be doing differently?
I find myself in my head about this stuff all.the.time.
I always wonder this. I wonder how people differ from me, what makes them happy, what drives them. Great post 🙂
My mom always told me “where ever you go there you are” the grass could be greener. But you need to change your self first. But Yes, i constantly wonder about that to
I totally do this! I always wonder and a lot of times I invent stories about other people 🙂
I definitely wonder, all the time! I wonder about people’s upbringing the most… I ask a lot of questions I probably shouldn’t, too. Call me curious, but I love hearing about what makes people tick!
I try my best not to compare though… That just leads to me feeling sorry for myself, and at 27 I’ve had enough of that!
PS: I have a friend who goes on walks and peeps into people’s windows… she calls it “Housey Peeky.” :0)
I think we wonder because we want to know if there are people just like us out there. Is their “normal” the same as “our ” normal?
I totally do!! All the time. But then I think…what is normal? Is there really a normal? My normal is not anyone elses. But wondering what goes on in other peoples lives totally interests me. Are other people boring like me? haha
Oh girl, I’ve always been a wonderer, I mean snooper … straight up nosey!
I always peak into others’ homes (from the sidewalk and not with my nose on their window) when it’s dusk and their lights are on. I love watching people interact, seeing how they decorate, learning their traditions …. and basically seeing if I’m normal.
LOL
I guess that is the beautiful thing about both books and blogs- and even facebook! We get to peek into another person’s world, into their space, and see and feel the things that they do.
Heck yes I do! Mostly because I am so dang nosy! But I lived in such a bubble sometimes I wondered what life would be like outside of that bubble! I am finding out quick with this big move! So far, so good! XOXO!!
Love your thoughts on this. I do this all the time. But then I count my blessings and realize I have it good 🙂
I love this post, and yes, I totally do this too. But my grandma used to always say “the grass is greener where you water it, and you know what? I think she’s right!:)
I definitely wonder this all.the.time! It’s something that I’ve always wondered about and I loved when you said “what is everyone else’s normal?”
Great post!
Oh I totally do this. I’ve always been fascinated by sociology and psychology and how other people think and live. What’s it like being a West Coast girl? 😉
