I recently got the opportunity to team up with Elizabeth Street and their collaboration with Ralph Lauren for “a day at the stables” children’s fashion show. This show allowed moms and their daughters to view the 2013 fall and holiday collections from the Wölffer Stables in Sagaponack, NY. The backdrop was perfect and paralleled Ralph Lauren’s “preppy” brand precisely.
Ever since becoming a mom of a daughter, one of the things that has been so fun is playing dress up. I have always dressed Landyn in things that reflect my own personal style… things I myself would wear. We started back to school this week so this fashion show came at the perfect time. Landyn’s back to school wardrobe will include a lot of the bold colors that are seen in Ralph Lauren’s collection and I plan on color blocking a lot of her ensembles. I also noticed a lot of layering with trench coats and vests, shirts and sweaters, scarfs, leggings under skirts, etc. Plaid and floral are going to be huge this season and the mix and match of patterns will definitely be in our rotation. One thing I tend to shy away from with a four year old is accessories because they tend to get taken off and lost. I loved seeing all the scarfs, jewelry, leg warmers, purses, etc. the kiddies were rocking and want to incorporate more of this into Landyn’s wardrobe. Ralph Lauren gave us a peek at what some holiday 2013 trends might be.. rustic florals, embroidery, beading, and sparkle. I am on a gold kick lately (ok always) and I can’t wait to wear gold statement pieces this season.
